BlackRock has promoted its EMEA head of commercial marketing to overall Chief Marketing Officer for the region.

Claire Lane, who has worked at the world’s largest asset manager for around six years, started the CMO role this month.

After joining BlackRock in 2017 as head of wealth marketing for EMEA, she then headed marketing for the iShares business from 2019 to 2020 for the same region. She has been EMEA head of commercial marketing since the beginning of 2021.

Before BlackRock, she held various marketing positions at Mastercard, including most recently Head of Marketing Strategy & Planning and Merchant Partnerships.

Prior to that she worked at Barclaycard, most recently heading marketing for its digital marketplace.

Vanguard, the second largest asset manager in the world by AUM, also appointed a new Head of Marketing for Europe earlier this year.
