Asset manager Vanguard has chosen its HR chief and a long-time company insider as its Head of Marketing for Europe.

Rebecca Bond took over the role in January, having served for four years as Head of HR.

She has been at Vanguard for almost 10 years, with previous roles including around two years as Marketing Services Manager and a year as Chief of Staff.

The role had been vacant since September 2022, when Laura Curtis stepped down after four years.

Laura had presided over the asset manager’s “V for Value” campaign with AML, which launched in 2020 and was refreshed in 2022. It featured a range of people in different locales and scenarios doing a V sign.

The campaign helped to drive uptake of Vanguard’s low-cost D2C platform, launched in the UK in 2017. The firm then launched its advice service in May 2021.

During her four-year tenure Laura sat as a member of the European Leadership Team at the firm, devising a strategic marketing plan and overhauling the digital client experience.

She previously held roles at Jupiter Asset Management and Franklin Templeton. She has not yet announced her next role.

Founded in the US in 1975, Vanguard is best known for pioneering index tracker funds, which track the performance of an entire market index rather than individual stocks, allowing them to charge lower fees.

According to the Times, it now has 450,000 UK customers.
