Skipton Building Society has appointed a new marketing chief, who brings experience from a range of consumer brands.

Nick Mortimer started the role as Head of Marketing earlier this month.

Skipton is the UK’s fourth largest building society, offering products such as mortgages and savings accounts, with over one million customers. The mutual’s current strapline is “Helping you find your good place since 1853”.

Nick began his career at Barclays on its graduate fast-track programme, eventually becoming Head of Marketing for Premier Insurance.

From 2008 to 2017 he was Head of Brand, Marketing and E-commerce at Yorkshire Building Society, before heading up marketing at the Co-op’s Life Planning & Legal Services division.

His most recent role was at London & Country Mortgages, the UK’s largest online mortgage broker, which generated £15 billion in mortgage lending per year.

This month also saw Skipton appoint a Brand Strategy and Planning Lead, Louise Humpage.

The moves come as Skipton’s previous Head of Marketing Lynne Cook begins a role as Head of Marketing at Lowell, a debt collection agency.

While at Skipton, she persuaded the company’s board to invest more in its brand, introducing a fluent device and undertaking major broadcast sponsorships such as The Great Outdoors.
