Ninety One has promoted a former journalist and long-time company insider to a Marketing Director.

Duncan Alfers started the role in May, after seven years working at Ninety One specialising in digital marketing roles.

His previous experience includes marketing roles in the telecoms industry at Internet Solutions, where he worked for over five years.

He also worked as Digital Content Coordinator for the 2010 FIFA World Cup organising committee.

Some of his early career was spent as a journalist, focusing on technology and business at Panorama Publishing and Intelligence Publishing.

Early in his career, Duncan co-founded an events business designed to bring events to an online audience.

Ninety One, which demerged from Investec in mid-March 2020, chose its name as a reference to the transformative year it was initially founded in South Africa as Investec Asset Management.

The firm’s main brand platform is ‘Investing for a world of change’, with marketing headed up at the company by CMO Malcolm Fried.
