Happy Lunar New Year from The Forum team!

As well as marking the first new moon of the lunisolar calendar, today also celebrates the transition between Chinese zodiac signs, welcoming in the Year of the Metal Ox for 2021.

If you’re curious to learn more about how marketers can honour global celebrations such as Lunar New Year in their campaigns, Sabrina found an excellent new podcast series earlier this week from winners of our Most Effective International Campaign Award, Oban International.

The podcast, called The Global Marketing Calendar, has been created to help global marketers understand the significance of upcoming events from around the world, learn how they are celebrated, and provide top tips on how to create campaigns that recognise these important occasions.

For the first episode, Oban’s local in-market expert Yue discusses how today’s New Year celebrations will take place in China, providing an overview on how marketers should approach communications and the significance of The Year of the Ox. Yue also explains how to avoid tripping up and potentially causing offence when putting together marketing sentiment, imagery and wording – a very important consideration for any discerning marketer!

We really enjoyed listening to the first of this series this week, and look forward to the next episode.

We’re delighted to announce that, after many months of research and member interviews, our FS Martech 2021 Digital Conference is now open for registrations. Our agenda this year will be looking at:

– Martech: The CMO View
– Martech to match your business strategy
– Encouraging trust in Martech
– AI: CX and beyond
– Building personalisation at scale
– Focusing on organisational change with a Martech lens

You can read more about our agenda here. We’ll be announcing speakers over the coming weeks, so watch this space!

We’re also very excited that this year’s conference will be held on SwapCard, an innovative digital conference platform with some really exciting functionality, such as the ability to chat on video with your colleagues and other Members in-app during the presentations – and much, much more.

It’s half-term next week, so we’re having a (short) break from webinars, returning with Improving communication experiences for vulnerable customers in a post-pandemic world on Tuesday 23 February.

We’ll be hearing from experts Ed Knight and Jenny Hill from Signal, supported by insights from specialist advisor Pamela Rose, Wellness and Life Coach. Also, keep an eye out for our April-July 2021 dates, which will be arriving on the event pages of the website in the coming weeks!

As ever, I wish you a peaceful and enjoyable weekend, and if you are having time off for half-term, a good break.

Jasmine
