Digital bank Starling has announced a three-year extension as the official principal partner of Southampton FC Women.

The agreement will see the digital bank continue as the front-of-shirt sponsor for the team, building on the 2022-2023 season when it became the first brand to sponsor the women’s team independently of the men’s team.

Southampton FC’s Chief Commercial Officer, Charlie Boss, said: “Our club is extremely proud of everything our women’s team has achieved on and off the pitch. Starling’s continued support and belief in our vision has been instrumental in the team’s remarkable growth and success. This renewed partnership is a testament to the unwavering commitment of both organisations to achieving greatness together.”

The partnership renewal follows joint initiatives by Starling and Southampton FC aimed at promoting grassroots football opportunities for women and girls. These initiatives include the Coaches of Tomorrow program, which trained 20 women from the region as FA-accredited coaches, and a free ticket giveaway for a Conti Cup match in 2022, resulting in record ticket sales for the women’s team.

The move builds on Starling’s wider partnership with women’s football, which notably saw it sponsoring the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022. It has also launched various programmes to bring funding to grassroots women’s and girls’ teams.
