NatWest hires Virgin vet as CMO for business division

NatWest’s business division has appointed a new marketing chief, bringing a mix of experience from banking, tourism and data analysis roles.

Michael Buffham-Wade started his role as CMO of Commercial and Institutional Banking at NatWest Group, which encompasses its business customers.

He brings extensive experience from other major banks, including at Lloyds Banking Group, HSBC and Santander, in a range of client experience and customer roles.

He also brings experience form outside the sector. Michael’s most recent role was as CMO at Beyond, a data analysis company which works with corporate, government and institutional banking clients.

He also worked in other sectors, including at Virgin and at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Michael commented: “I am thrilled to be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about fostering financial confidence and championing potential in a digital world. Looking forward to working with my amazing colleagues and partners across the bank.”

The Commercial and Institutional group was created in 2022 to serve non-personal customers through the combination of the Commercial, NatWest Markets and RBS International businesses.
