Food for thought: Putting first party data first

At its big tech conference last week, Salesforce announced a new range of tools that will allow companies to better use their first party data, including tie-ups with Google and Snapchat.

It’s a reminder that marketers need a plan to tap into their first party data, as Google prepares to get rid of third-party cookie support from Chrome next year.

While the change will bring more privacy to the web, party cookies are used by many companies to track customers as they move around the web and serve them tailored ads.

To ensure they can still offer personalised ads, companies will need to ensure their data collection policies are up to scratch. There’s a great whitepaper from Deloitte which explains the changes and what to do about them.
