J.P. Morgan has appointed a long-time insider as Global Head of Alternatives Marketing as it seeks to promote its expertise in the investment class.

Oliver Stracey took on the role in February, moving from heading up sustainable investing marketing, a role he had held for almost five years.

He had previously spent four years working at J.P. Morgan’s investments division, as Head of EMEA Distribution Marketing and Executive Director of EMEA Institutional Marketing.

Oliver also held prior roles at Schroders and Hermes.

The move comes as J.P. Morgan Asset Management, a top-ten alternatives manager better known for its public markets offering, is expanding its focus on alternatives. CEO George Gatch recently restructured the business, adding more resources and putting two senior J.P. Morgan veterans in charge.

The firm this week launched its first European long-term investment fund (Eltif) and released its seventh Global Alternatives Outlook report at the end of January.
