Investment and savings platform Hargreaves Lansdown has hired from Vanguard for its new Chief Product Officer, as it looks to expand its range of solutions.

Starting in the new year, Douglas Abbott will be responsible for delivering existing products, such as funds, retirement solutions and ETFs.

He will also explore innovation around private markets products, following Hargreaves adding two Schroders long-term asset funds in September.

Douglas joins from his most recent role as Head of UK Client Group at Vanguard, where he spent a year and a half.

Prior to this, he worked at Schroders, where he worked for 15 years, most recently as Head of UK Wealth and Client Group.
