Newton Investment Management, part of BNY Investments, has hired the former Vanguard CMO of Europe for a newly created marketing role.

Laura Curtis, who was CMO for Vanguard Europe from 2018 to 2022, begins the newly created role of Head of Global Product and Marketing this week.

At Vanguard, she presided over the asset manager’s “V for Value” campaign, which launched in 2020 and was refreshed in 2022. It featured a range of people in different locales and scenarios doing a V sign.

The campaign helped to drive uptake of Vanguard’s low-cost D2C platform, launched in the UK in 2017. The firm then launched its advice service in May 2021.

During her four-year tenure Laura sat as a member of the European Leadership Team at the firm, devising a strategic marketing plan and overhauling the digital client experience.

Since leaving Vanguard, she has worked as a fractional CMO. Laura also previously held senior leadership roles at Jupiter and AllianceBernstein.

The firm also announced at the same time that Britta Hion, previously Head of North America Distribution at Barings, would take on the also newly created role of Head of North American Distribution.”

Euan Munro, CEO of Newton, said: “We are delighted to welcome Laura and Britta to Newton.

“As we look to enhance our footprint as a global asset manager, their combined expertise in leadership, sales and product management, alongside established network relationships, will be invaluable in helping us to continue to deliver our clients’ desired investment outcomes.”
