Aon has appointed a new strategic marketing chief, who brings experience from the investment management and insurance worlds.

James Gatoff took on the role of Global Chief Strategic Marketing Officer in March, after six months working for the firm in a marketing advisory role on a contract basis.

He previously worked as Group Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Lombard International Group, a major wealth planning provider which has since been acquired and renamed.

Prior to this, he spent five years working in communications at Friends Life Group, acquired by Aviva in 2015, and before that was at Friends Provident.

James wrote on LinkedIn that Aon’s core purpose of “shaping decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world” had never been more relevant.

“As businesses navigate rapid change, those that recognise and harness the interconnectivity of risk and human capital strategies will gain a competitive edge – attracting, developing, and retaining the talent needed to drive innovation, unlock new opportunities, and fuel sustained growth and long-term success.

“This is where Marketing and Communications plays a pivotal role. MarComms is a key driver of value – bringing Aon’s purpose to life and ensuring our insights and solutions strongly resonate with the clients and businesses we serve. With world-class broking and consulting capabilities, market-leading data and analytics, deep expertise, and exceptional talent, we deliver actionable strategies and differentiated solutions to help clients navigate an increasingly complex world.”
