The 3 Cs for 2021 and beyond: Competition, consolidation and collaboration

David Cowan

The Financial Services Forum

After a year of lockdown, banks in Europe and America have had to make great changes to the way they deal with staff and customers. With many questions about what the next few months, and indeed years, could hold, we will consider retail banking through 3 Cs: Competition, Consolidation and Collaboration. In this session we will discuss:

  • The role of the challenger bank: long-term play or short-term IPO, and are they built to be sold?
  • Could we see a shift to banks focusing on the broader proposition offered rather than individual products? And, could this trigger more consolidation with digital players?
  • Will banking “hubs” be the branches of the future?

Will the enforced shift to digital banking result in a fundamental change to the retail banking market?

Speakers:

Amale Ghalbouni, Experience Director, Siegel+Gale

Jill Waters, Director of Retail, NS&I

Mark Brayton, Director, Digital and Marketing, Yorkshire Building Society
