Atom Bank are going to Durham. HSBC are moving to Birmingham. First Direct are in Leeds. The map of UK banking is changing fast – but what is driving the change? Costs, lifestyle, talent, regulation? It would be great to hear from banks who have already made a move, those weighing it up and those who are staying put (wherever they are).

It would also be great to get a consumer viewpoint here too Ian. It’s interesting that two of the companies that you’ve named are very much based around digital/telephony services. I’m sure many consumers will feel that the head office location is irrelevant, as long as they see the retention of local bank branches or an improvement in service.
