With a week to go until the general election, we will discuss the latest developments in the campaign and analyse where the main parties stand on key issues that will affect the financial services sector. This will cover key issues in the parties’ manifestos -- including tax, regulation, corporate governance, climate change, the role of the state in managing the economy and, of course, Brexit. We will consider potential scenarios and the likely consequences of (a) a Conservative majority government or (b) a Labour-led government (and also potentially other scenarios) and what that could mean for financial services in the longer-term. Lastly, we will explore how the City can and should remain globally competitive under a range of political scenarios.
