Patrick Smith

Patrick is an experienced and practicing risk management professional, with significant experience across a multitude of sectors. He founded Acumen Advisory in 2015 and provides management consultancy focused on strategy, risk management frameworks, global insurance, resourcing and recruitment.

Patrick is the Global Business Resilience Leader for Deliveroo for whom, amongst other things, he manages their global insurance requirements.

Patrick is a founder and executive director of Tribe, a specialist risk-lead insurance consultant intermediary focused on groups, schemes and affinities with particular expertise in the shared and gig economies.

Immediately prior to this, he was Managing Partner of Overark (a Lloyd’s approved MGA), an owner/director of Caucus (a GFSC approved captive cell company) and served as Chief Risk Officer of The Warranty Group, a global specialty insurer, where he designed and implemented a global enterprise-wide risk structure, the global risk reporting programme and lead the Solvency II compliance.

Before that, Patrick was the International Director of Risk, Insurance and Claims Management for the Hertz Corporation and held various senior positions with Commercial Union, risk and insurance consultancies and claims management organisations.

Patrick was elected Chair of Airmic in 2015 and is the Principal of the Airmic Academy. He is a Certified Member of the IRM (CMIRM), a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute’s London claims committee and is a founding Certified European Risk Professional (RIMAP).
