Martin has over 30 years financial services experience. He joined Barclays in 1987 and cut his teeth in a number of commercial marketing roles across banking, insurance and investments. Internationally he was Head of Marketing for Barclays Africa & Middle East before being appointed the Group’s first Head of International Brand Strategy.

In 2006 he joined Merrill Lynch Investment Managers to spearhead the firm’s rebrand following the merger with BlackRock which at the time was the world’s largest asset management merger.

At Standard Life Investments between 2009 and 2018 as Head of Brand & Channel Marketing he refreshed the corporate brand and introduced integrated multi-channel, product and brand campaign management disciplines as part of a strategic realignment of the Standard Life Group from traditional insurance to investment management. His remit included all digital and offline marketing communications including sponsorship with SLI becoming the first Worldwide Partner of The Ryder Cup and jersey sponsor of the British & Irish Lions 2017 tour to New Zealand which won the 2018 BT Sports Partnership of the Year Award.
