It's often said that consumers have lost trust in the financial services industry, but what happens when we can no longer trust them ? Financial crime and fraudulent claims have been on the increase during recession, as hard-pressed consumers find alternative ways to make ends meet. Most are not hardened criminals, and they may not have erred or been tempted to cheat before. But if they get away with it once, they are more likely to try it again. Who are these people ? How should FS providers deal with consumers who treat them badly ?
